Piešťany Spa
Piešťany is one of Slovakia’s oldest spa resorts, with approximately two hundred years of spa and medical-treatment experience.
Situated in western-central Slovakia, it is approximately 80 km from Bratislava and 160 km from Vienna, with an airport transfer described in the source as taking less than two hours.
The spa occupies an island with attractive natural surroundings and is known for sulphurous mineral water and mineral-rich therapeutic mud.
These natural resources are used in the treatment of musculoskeletal discomfort and in programmes supporting physical strength, balance and rehabilitation. Piešťany has a long tradition of physiotherapy and musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation.
Mineral Water
Thermal mineral water is a key natural resource used in Piestany spa care. Ensana describes spring water at about 68°C, cooled to approximately 36–39°C for thermal bathing. The treating team selects procedures according to the individual assessment.
Sulphurous Mud
The therapeutic mud is obtained from thermal-spring areas and applied to the body in treatments intended to ease pain and swelling around joints, cartilage and the spine, support circulation and provide mineral-rich applications. The source lists mud-treatment temperatures of 38–42°C.

The resort has hotels in different accommodation categories and room types for patients and accompanying guests, alongside a range of treatment programmes.
Comprehensive Treatment Programme
The source lists 24 treatments weekly, an initial medical examination to select procedures, weekly medical reviews, laboratory tests, accommodation and three meals daily. It describes this programme for musculoskeletal and joint problems, disc conditions and spinal pain.
