Paralysis may result from different neurological causes, including spinal cord injury, stroke and some neurological diseases. Each cause requires a diagnosis and an appropriate treatment plan.

Physiotherapy Goals
Goals may include maintaining joint range of motion, improving available strength, balance and safe mobility, learning to use assistive devices, and reducing complications associated with limited movement.
The Rehabilitation Team
Depending on the patient’s needs, a plan may involve rehabilitation doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and nursing staff.
Rehabilitation Outcomes
Physiotherapy does not guarantee that paralysis will resolve. Improvement depends on the cause, severity of injury, remaining abilities and response to rehabilitation.
Health Back’s Role
Health Back helps coordinate case assessment and communication with suitable rehabilitation centres. Diagnosis and treatment planning remain the responsibility of the specialist medical team.
